Flipbook Animation

My flipbook animation consisted of a short sketched man doing a kickflip on a skateboard. I created this animation by creating the original frame and tracing the movements onto the next page. I decided to have the vide play in real time instead of animating the frames individually in video editing software as that would have taken a lot of time and have been super tedious for a less smooth result. I wanted to keep the concept simple as reproducing the same frame many times can get complicated if you have a lot of scenery or things going on and can be hard to replicate again and again without mass production materials used for things such as animation.

I created this using blank flash cards that were all the same size and bound them all together using a clamp paper clip to keep them in the same frames. I found this to be a simple and minimalistic approach to this project.

Audio/Visual Deconstruction Video

For my video deconstruction project, I chose to make a music video around one of my own music beats that i've produced. I started off by collecting an assortment of designs, videos, scuba diving videos, time-lapse to piece together in somewhat synchronicity to the music. I have always wanted to do something like this so it was amazing to have the opportunity to.

1. A music video called "Nocturnal", its about 4 minutes or so and is a experimental film. It involves meshed video clips together with one of my own musical beats. I want to mesh together an experience for the viewer to fall into.

2. I plan to mesh videos together in synchronicity to my own music. This will take my own production and videos that I have collected than to unify it all together.

3. I think this sort of project could express a lot of the creativity I have to offer by blending different sorts of landscapes and textures together with a musical soundtrack behind it. This can push the viewer to relax into the newly formed pieces that arise from the combination of all the different elements.

4. Main themes would include just nocturnal and environments such as underwater and a kind of floaty feel, and a theme of floating through a world in a very dreamy like state.

5. The material involved video editing software with Adobe Premiere and meshed video clips found from Timelapse Videos or other videos on YouTube.

6. This was a super fun project and I am super happy with the final outcome. I think that the video clips meshed well with the music and leaves the viewer in a floaty state to relax and take in their own interpretation.

Performance Project

Performance art is very interesting and I was very intrigued to learn about performance artists such as Maria Abramovic and Yoko Ono and how they used performance and improvisation to strike such powerful messages upon the world and viewers. Many of these performance roles were taken on by women which in itself could be a statement of empowerment. They all had in common to express a message deeper in itself whether it be social, war, self care, or whatever the message tended to be.  I wouldn't say that technology is essential to their work as most of it is improvisational and done with props or their own bodies or minds so most of the time it doesn't take any technological assistance to perform these feats. I think there is still a lot to be done especially with technology and newcoming AI to produce performances that continue to be breakthroughs in what this field of art is and has been transforming to become.

My performance piece consisted of me spinning Poi, which are basically viewed as two balanced balls and then flow artists who use Poi can manipulate the two balanced objects to make different trail shapes and do advanced tricks that look visually appealing. I decided to use a flow performance to take the viewer on a journey and have them be inspired to access flow states within themself.

1. My performance project is titled "The Flow Within", is recorded off of my iPhone camera, is a little over three minutes, and genre is Abstract art (experimental narrative, performance). The project I have worked on involved using Adobe Premier to edit the content of the video and make it mesh well together to give an artistic effect.

2. I plan to record myself using my iPhone spinning Poi in intricate patterns to express flow. I plan to perform for three minutes and put my own music behind it. This project will be recorded in my yard at night time so that the lighting from the poi is best visible.

3. Linear path of the project would include a fluid performance throughout mixed with effects to give the viewer a sense of hypnotization.

4. Main themes that the work addresses outside of itself is that as humans its hard to really access flow states or places where we can ultimately feel within ourselves. I find this theme to even be huge in my life with finding it hard to relax and have opportunities just to flow within my own life. Flow for me can really enchant me and take me on a journey in terms of seeing what is possible with gravity and our world.

5. Location was in my yard, equipment used was an iPhone and desktop computer to edit with Adobe Premier. Also had a set up LED poi to use for this project as well.

6. This project was a lot of fun and allowed me to express something that I enjoy in a fun and expressive manner, and hopefully inspiring others to open up to flow states and following where their intuition will take them,
